The Sheriff’s Department’s deputy friendly is Deputy Casey Rude. Deputy Friendly teaches safety curriculum to grade school youth in county schools. This curriculum includes information about:

  • Gun safety
  • Pedestrian safety
  • School bus safety
  • Stranger danger

DARE

Deputy Rude also teaches the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program which is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches 5th-grade children in Kenosha County schools how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.  D.A.R.E. is a  highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence.

D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 and has proven so successful that it has been implemented in thousands of schools throughout the United States and many other countries.
