Site Plan Review

A site plan with a pencilWhen

Any use of the land or the construction of any structure requires the site plan review process to be implemented for all developments classified as a principal or accessory use in any district except the A-1, A-2, and A-4 agricultural districts, the R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, R-5, R-6, R-7, and R-8 residential districts.

Why

For the purpose of promoting compatible development, the stability of property values, and to prevent impairment or depreciation of property values.

How

Typically the Site Plan Review process is initiated in conjunction with a rezoning petition or conditional use request due to the fact that a structure is intended to be constructed. If a pre-conference meeting is not required it is recommended that you meet with County Development Staff to review your proposed development and discuss the Site Plan Review process as designated in the Kenosha County General Zoning and Shoreland/Floodplain Zoning Ordinance.

Please refer to the Kenosha County Department of Planning and Development Fee Schedule (PDF) for the appropriate fee.

Procedures

Time

Site Plan Review is conducted by staff during the rezoning or conditional use process for projects requiring said approval. Site Plan Review not requiring rezoning or a conditional use permit is handled through an appointment process with the Towns participating as needed.
