Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman invites bicyclists of all ability levels to participate in the annual Fall Wheel Ride to Petrifying Springs Park on Saturday, Sept. 23.

This year’s organized ride will feature a new route, beginning at Kemper Center and sending riders along the lakefront and then west to Petrifying Springs.

Riders will take off at Kemper Center, 6501 Third Ave., at 9 a.m. The Kenosha Racine Bike Club will lead the ride, and Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies will bike alongside riders to and from the Petrifying Springs Biergarten.

At the Biergarten following the ride, food and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Kenosha County Parks in collaboration with the Petrifying Springs Biergarten.

In conjunction with the ride, Kerkman will host a Saturdays in the Park with Sam informal office hours event at the Biergarten from 10 to 11 a.m. Residents are invited, regardless of whether they participate in the ride, to stop in and discuss county issues with the executive.

“The Fall Wheel Ride is a perfect time to get out and see a slice of what our beautiful parks and trails have to offer — now and year-round,” Kerkman said. “I look forward to seeing you there.”

The new bike ride route, which is 7.8 miles each way, follows the Lake Michigan shoreline on paved pathways wherever possible, offering as many scenic views as possible.
