The chart below from the Federal Communications Commission compares minimum download speeds (Mbps) for light, moderate and high household use with one to four devices.
- Light Use: Basic functions (email, internet browsing, social media, standard video streaming)
- Moderate Use: Basic functions plus one high-demand application (HD video streaming, multiparty video conferencing, online gaming)
- High Use: More than one high-demand application running at the same time
