[ARCHIVED] Kenosha County Board meetings, other video features now available on YouTube

Eight years of archived County Board meeting videos, plus other county government features are now available on a new Kenosha County YouTube channel, the county Division of Information Technology announced today.

To access the channel, search YouTube for “Kenosha County,” or go directly to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAUjjH_6If-ROjKE4djhqjQ.

Archived County Board meeting videos are arranged in chronological order in a playlist within the channel.

Migrating these videos to YouTube increases citizens’ access to them, as the previous system embedded within the Kenosha County website required installation of Adobe Flash Player on users’ devices. This requirement made the videos unplayable on some devices, including many Apple products.

Live video streaming of County Board meetings – held typically at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month – remains available at http://www.kenoshacounty.org/1407/Live-Video-Stream.

In addition to archived board meeting videos, the Kenosha County YouTube channel includes videos on various county programs, services and events, including Division of Health initiatives, Brookside Care Center and Public Works Department efforts. These videos are found in the “Kenosha County Featured Videos” playlist within the YouTube channel.

Adding content to YouTube is the latest in a series of efforts Kenosha County is making to interact with citizens through social media.

Kenosha County maintains 13 Facebook pages, including a general Kenosha County Government page, plus others specific to the Aging and Disability Resource Center, Brookside Care Center, the Division of Health, the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Kenosha County Opioid Task Force, Kenosha County Parks, Brighton Dale Links, Petrifying Springs Golf Course, the Kenosha County UW-Extension, Veterans Services, Western Kenosha County Transit and the newest addition, Willowbrook Assisted Living.

The county also maintains a Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/KenoshaCounty.

“We’re pleased to offer these services to Kenosha County residents and those who do business here,” said Martin Lacock, Kenosha County chief information officer. “As the way we communicate evolves, Kenosha County is always looking for ways to deliver information through the platforms that people are using.”
