[ARCHIVED] County Board Chairman appoints Daniel Gaschke to fill vacant 7th District seat

Daniel Gaschke

Kenosha County Board Chairman Daniel Esposito tonight appointed Daniel Gaschke to fill the vacant 7th District seat on the board.

Gaschke, who was confirmed by the County Board on a unanimous vote, succeeds Supervisor Dayvin Hallmon, who resigned from the board in September upon moving out of Kenosha County.

Eight-year residents of Kenosha County, Gaschke and his wife are adoptive and foster parents who operate a small business, Kindermusik with Emilie LLC.

Formerly, Gaschke worked in education and mental health care, as house manager of a community-based residential facility and as academic advisor and instructor at Shepherds College, a post-secondary school for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He has also worked as a painting contractor.

Esposito said Gaschke was identified as the strongest of the four candidates who applied for the vacant position, all of whom were interviewed by the chairman.

“Mr. Gaschke’s experiences as a business owner and educator, plus his involvement in the community and his interest in the services Kenosha County provides, make him an excellent fit for the County Board,” Esposito said. “I look forward to Daniel becoming a strong contributor to the board.”

Gaschke will represent the 7th District until a special election on April 2, 2019, with a primary to be held Feb. 19, if needed. Gaschke is eligible to run in that election to continue serving through the end of the current board term, in April 2020.

Located in the center of the City of Kenosha, the 7th District is roughly bounded by 50th Street, the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, 65th Street, 25th Avenue, 60th Street and 30th Avenue.

Gaschke said he is interested in joining the County Board because he enjoys helping others, and he believes being on the board presents an opportunity to serve a greater number of people in the community.

“I’m excited about helping to bridge the gap between Madison and our local municipalities,” Gaschke said. “I’ve always been interested in state and local government, and I’m particularly interested in the crucial role that counties serve connecting the two.”

Gaschke said he also hopes to raise awareness of the vital role that the county serves in the community.

“I want to help connect people with the information and services they need to improve their everyday lives,” Gaschke said. “I am humbled and honored to serve on the County Board, and I look forward to helping move our county forward during this exciting time of growth and development.”
