[ARCHIVED] Health Department Lab Receives Accreditation

The Kenosha County Division Health Laboratory (KCDOH
Lab) has joined the esteemed group of Crime Laboratories across the USA and the World
that have demonstrated compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Standards. The ISO 17025 is the
single most important standard for testing and calibration laboratories around the world.
These laboratories have been assessed and recognized for using sound management
practices, are technically competent to perform specific tests, calibrations and/or
measurements as well as at the same time are able to generate technically valid results for
which they hold accreditation.
For well over 20 years, the Laboratory (KCDOH Lab) has provided scientific support to the
local Criminal Justice System through local and regional Law Enforcement Agencies. The
laboratory which was previously accredited under ASCLD-LAB legacy Program in 2006
and was awarded the ISO 17025 Certificate of Accreditation in Forensic Science by
ASCLD-LAB International in November 2012. The laboratory (KCDOH Lab) is a unit
within the Kenosha County Division of Health and is managed and directed by Mr. Carlton
Cowie.
