Kenosha County experienced a freezing rain/ice event that began yesterday evening. Between Tuesday, February 5, 2019, starting at approximately 6:00 PM until today Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 8:00 AM, Kenosha County Sheriff Deputies have responded to the following weather and traffic related calls:
- 16 assist motorist calls
- 11 property damage accidents
- 14 road hazard reports
- 19 downed power lines/tree reports
- 5 transformer explosions
The Kenosha Sheriff’s Division of Emergency Management reports over 100 customers remain without power as of 9:00 a.m. These outages are affecting the following areas:
- 18 in the Town of Wheatland
- 84 in the Village of Salem Lakes
- 6 in the Town of Brighton
- 3 in the Village of Bristol
- 1 in the City of Kenosha
Traffic control devices currently not operating correctly due to power loss are located at:
- STH 50 at STH 83 North
- 45th Street at STH 31 (Green Bay Road)
The roadways remain hazardous and slippery, and we urge the community to exercise extreme caution when traveling.
