[ARCHIVED] Driver killed in train-vs.-vehicle crash in Trevor

At 1:10 p.m. today, May 23, 2019, Kenosha Sheriff’s Department Deputies and Village of Salem Lakes Fire and Rescue responded to a serious train vs vehicle crash at a railroad crossing in the area of 258th Avenue and the Canadian National Railroad tracks.

Preliminary information indicates the Canadian National train was southbound with 103 railroad cars and collided with a vehicle at a private crossing north of 258th Avenue. The train was able to come to a stop north of Highway C.

Local roadways approximately one mile north of the accident scene are blocked by the train. Motorists are advised to avoid the crossings near 264th Avenue in the Camp Lake Area for the next several hours.

The operator of the vehicle the train collided with was fatally injured in the incident, representatives from the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office are responding to the scene.

There is no danger to area residents from the train or its contents. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
