[ARCHIVED] Man dies in Wheatland mobile home fire

JULY 9, 2019 UPDATE:

The victim in this fatal fire investigation is identified as Stanley J. Mesmer a 71-year-old resident of the Town of Wheatland. This fire is not suspicious in nature. The cause of the fire is still being investigated and is unknown at this time.

JULY 5, 2019, ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE:

On July 5, 2019, at approximately 5:02 AM the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department along with multiple county fire departments responded to the Wheatland Mobile Home Park 32200 45th Street for a report of a mobile home on fire. Deputies arrived on scene to find an active fire. A deceased male was located by fire department personnel in the mobile home as the fire was being extinguished. The fire has been extinguished and the scene is currently being investigated.

Initial reports to 911 indicated a mobile home was on fire with smoke and flames showing. Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed that smoke and flames were coming from mobile home #117. Deputies were unable to contact anyone inside of the mobile home. Upon fire department personnel arriving and completing a search of the mobile home, a single deceased male subject was found in the mobile home. No other victims were in the mobile home. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated.

Multiple Kenosha County fire departments including the Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Town of Randall Fire Department, Village of Twin Lakes Fire Department, Village of Salem Lakes Fire Department, Village of Bristol Fire Department, and the Village of Pleasant Prairie Fire department assisted in extinguishing this fire.
