[ARCHIVED] 2020 golf season to begin at Kenosha County’s Brighton Dale Links, Petrifying Springs Golf Course

The 2020 golf season at Brighton Dale Links and Petrifying Springs Golf course will begin Thursday March 12, County Executive Jim Kreuser announced today.

“Spring is here — it’s time to hit the links,” Kreuser said. “And there’s no better place to do that than Kenosha County’s two terrific golf facilities.”

Dan Drier, PGA Professional and general manager of golf operations for Kenosha County, said he is looking forward to a great season at both locations.

At Brighton Dale, Drier said, the 7,000-yard White Birch course has now been fully upgraded to the specifications of the masterplan developed by Lohman Quitno Golf Design and implemented over the last couple of years.

“The White Birch now boasts the best bunkers in Wisconsin after reconstruction and installation of Better Billy Bunker liners and Fredonia Bunker Sand in all of them,” Drier said. “The masterplan has created a very challenging yet player-friendly course that is always in great condition, at a fantastic value.”

Brighton Dale also features the 6,700-yard Blue Spruce course and the 3,500-yard, nine-hole Red Pine.

At Petrifying Springs, Drier said new, continuous cart paths will be completed this season, following up on other improvements that have found the course voted the community’s favorite golf course seven years running in the Kenosha News Best of Kenosha County awards.

“New Superintendent Ryan Retherford just completed his first season with us, and his practices have really started to make the conditions at Petrifying Springs shine,” Drier said, of the 18-hole, 6,000-yard course.

For the start of the season, hours of operation for both courses will be from 8 a.m. to dusk, seven days a week, weather permitting. As the weather gets warmer, the courses will open earlier.

To open up the season at Brighton Dale Links, there will be a Spring Scramble on Saturday, April 25. This is a 4-person, 18-hole scramble with prizes valued at over $4,200, and costs only $60 per player. This includes greens fee, cart, dinner and big prizes, including a chance for a foursome to win 2020 Adult Season Passes.

For seniors, the Senior Scramble will be held on Friday, May 1. This is also a 4-person, 18-hole scramble that has prizes valued over $2,600 and costs only $49 per player, which includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and prizes.
