[ARCHIVED] Petrifying Springs Park to open on Saturday

Carlisle Family Dog Park, Area 1 Well both remain closed

Petrifying Springs Park will be open to the public again starting tomorrow (Saturday, April 20), according to Kenosha County Parks General Manager of Operations Jonathan Rudie.

“We were not sure how long it would take for the flooding to subside so we had based our earlier predictions on how conditions had been before the dam was removed last year,” Rudie said. Rudie had indicated on Thursday that the park would remain closed until Monday.

“The water has receded quickly, so we’re able to open the park on Saturday,” he said.

Rudie said parks workers would be cleaning up mud and other storm damage today.

The Carlisle Family Dog Park will remain closed at least until Monday because the conditions are extremely wet, Rudie said.

Also, the Area 1 Artisan Well will remain closed until the water can be tested for safety, he said.
