[ARCHIVED] Long-term closure on Highway KR to begin Sept. 8

FB LINK road closed sign

Kenosha County Highway KR will be closed to through traffic between Highway H and Old Green Bay Road beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8.

This long-term closure is to continue through fall 2022, while the Wisconsin Department of Transportation reconstructs and expands the road as part of the Wisconn Valley Development in neighboring Racine County.

While Highway KR will remain open to local traffic, there will be hard closures at the Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific railroad tracks.

Residents on Highway KR (First Street) between Highway H (88th Avenue) and the Canadian Pacific tracks will be able to access their properties from the west. Those on Highway KR between the Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific tracks will be able to access their properties from the south via Highway EA (72nd Avenue) or from the north via 90th Street in Racine County. Residents east of the Union Pacific tracks will have access from the east on Highway KR or from the south via 56th Avenue and Fourth Place.
