The Kenosha County Division of Emergency Management, in conjunction with the City of Kenosha officials, is reaching out to residents regarding a potential opportunity for an SBA (Small Business Administration) Declaration for damages due to the recent Kenosha civil unrest.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, the City of Kenosha officials shall attempt to collect information from Kenosha private businesses, homeowners, and renters that sustained major damage to their properties for the Governor to request an SBA Program Assessment.
Kenosha County needs to record a minimum of twenty-five (25) homes, businesses, or renters that sustained major damages or destroyed properties due to the Kenosha Civil Unrest Event between Sunday, Aug. 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020.
SBA shall make a physical disaster declaration when:
- At least twenty-five (25) homes and/or businesseswithin Kenosha County demonstrate uninsured or under-insured losses of forty percent (40%) or more of their estimated fair replacement value (equivalent to suffering major damage).
- Losses can be in the form of structures, business inventory, and personal property. For multi-unit dwellings (apartments or condominiums) and multiple businesses located in a single structure (e.g., strip mall and storefronts), each unit's losses are counted separately; or
- Private businesses, homes, or renters, have uninsured losses of forty percent (40%) or more of their estimated fair replacement value, and, as a direct result of the damages, twenty-five percent (25%) of the community's workforce would be unemployed for at least ninety (90) days.
City of Kenosha Officials shall collect data (via a brief questionnaire) consisting of fourteen (14) questions. Upon reaching the minimum of twenty-five (25) victims, the WEM (Wisconsin Emergency Management) Administrator recommends the SBA Administrator to declare the City of Kenosha, Kenosha County, and adjacent counties (Racine and Walworth Counties) eligible for SBA assistance.
