As promised last year, County Executive Jim Kreuser and the County Veterans Services Office is bringing the Pillars of Honors Traveling WWI monument back to Southeastern Wisconsin.
This year the event will be sponsored by Kenosha and Racine County.
It will be displayed at a ceremony starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove, 21425 Spring St., Union Grove. The program will consist of presentations, music and a keynote speaker. The program usually lasts no longer than two hours. The monument is the original 8-foot-by-8 foot scale model of the National Memorial.
This is an excellent opportunity for those veterans and family members who cannot make it to the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. to see the monument.
Pillars of Honor is a not for profit organization whose sole purpose is to provide the long-overdue respect and honor to WWII Veterans who have served their country. It operates with no employees via a board of directors and 100% volunteers.
