[ARCHIVED] Work to be done on County Trunk Highway S railroad crossing

The Kenosha County Department of Public Works announces scheduled work to improve the Union Pacific Railroad crossing located on County Trunk Highway “S” (Washington Road) 0.8 mile west of State Trunk Highway 31 in the Village of Somers.

The Union Pacific Railroad Company will be reconstructing the existing crossing on County Trunk Highway “S”. Kenosha County Public Works will concurrently be resurfacing the highway approaches to the crossing. The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday June 23, 2015 and take approximately four days to complete.

CTH “S” will be closed to through traffic between County Trunk Highway “H” and State Trunk Highway 31 for the duration of the project. Access will be provided to all residences, businesses and farms. Motorist will be able to travel on County Trunk Highway “S” from State Trunk Highway 31 to Brumback Boulevard for access to Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. A posted detour route utilizing State Trunk Highways 31, County Trunk Highway “L” and County Trunk Highway “H” will be in place.
