[ARCHIVED] Oktoberfest to feature authentic music, food, fireworks and Wiener Dog Races

The 5th Annual Old Settlers Oktoberfest at Old Settlers Park, 24100 75th St., on Saturday, Sept. 12th from Noon to 8 p.m. will feature authentic German food, dancing, Little Miss Edelweiss pageant and the Dachshund Dash.

Entry to the event is free.

“This is a wonderful event for all of Kenosha County,” County Executive Jim Kreuser said. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate fall in the beautiful setting of Old Settlers Park.”

New to the event this year is the County Executive 5k+ starting and ending at Old Settlers Park. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the race will start at 9:00 a.m. The morning run/walk will be family friendly and participants are encouraged to dress in Oktoberfest theme. The first 40 participants to arrive will receive a complimentary Oktoberfest alpine hat. Visit www.kenosharunningcompany.com to register and review the entry fees.

The Dachshund Dash is for Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes vying to be the fastest Top Dog or a Hot Dog. Registration for the races begins at Noon and the races will commence at 1 p.m. The number of races will depend on the number of dogs registered. There is no fee for participating.

Immediately following the Dachshund Dash, there will be an Open Class/All Breed Dog Dash. All dogs are welcome to participate. Participants must register and it is also free.

Old Settlers Oktoberfest will feature authentic German food and beer for purchase from noon to 8 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by the Brew Haus Polka Kings from Noon to 7 p.m., and the German Dancers, the D’Oberlanders Dance Crew, will perform at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m.

A Classic Car Show will be held from Noon to 4 p.m. Children’s games, hair braiding, and face painting will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Little Miss Edelweiss pageant will be held with registration from noon to 3:00 p.m. and the pageant starting at 4 p.m.

A raffle drawing will be held at 7:00 p.m. and will include numerous prizes including $1,000 in cash for first place.

Fireworks over Paddock Lake will top off the event.
