Wisconsin has a long, proud history of grassroots advocacy on the part of older people in the state. The Wisconsin Aging Network—the aging offices and partner organizations that make up the support system for older people—has been at the core of grassroots advocacy by informing, encouraging, and supporting the citizen-led initiatives that have made Wisconsin’s aging programs some of the best in the nation. The Wisconsin Aging ADVOCACY Network(WAAN) was formed to continue that proud tradition of advocacy.
WAAN’s mission is to work with and for Wisconsin’s older adults to shape public policy that improves their quality of life. WAAN educates supporters and opponents, mobilizes allies on priority issues, and advocates positions visibly and effectively.
