Some of your money could be hiding in the halls of Kenosha County government.

Per state law, every other year, County Treasurer Teri Jacobson publishes lists of unclaimed funds that are being held by the Sheriff’s Department and the Kenosha County Circuit Court.

This year’s lists, published in the Kenosha News in January, are at the following links:

These funds may be claimed through the Sheriff’s or the Clerk of Circuit Court offices through the end of July. After that, the funds are transferred to the Treasurer’s Office, where claimants may begin the claims process after Sept. 1.

In order to claim these funds, claimants need to have a state driver’s license or ID card, and also proof that they lived at the address listed in the unclaimed funds publication. If their driver’s license or ID card does not match the address in the listing, they may submit a previous phone bill, water bill, electric bill, or a copy of previous driver’s license or ID card bearing the address. Other documents may be accepted for verification, but need to be approved by the Treasurer’s Office.

For more information, visit the Treasurer’s Office on the first floor of the Kenosha County Administration Building, 1010 56th St., Kenosha, or call 262-653-2542.
