[ARCHIVED] Homicide Suspect Identity Released - Lisa Mezera Case

A great deal of time has passed since the murder of Lisa Mezera. Kenosha County Sheriff’s Detectives followed every lead to its sensible conclusion. All leads led to the same suspect. The suspect in this case is Javier Garcia, 52 years old, Kenosha resident. Garcia has been in custody in the Kenosha County Jail since 8-20-12, the day after Mezera’s death was discovered. The circumstances of this event allowed Garcia to be held in custody on Probation and Parole violations since that time. This afforded time for the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Laboratory to process the evidence in this case. The Crime Lab made Kenosha County’s case a top priority and has been working on processing the evidence from this case over the past several weeks. Sheriff David Beth is grateful to the Crime Lab for the effort put forth on behalf of our community. The written reports were received from the Crime Lab on Friday, October 5th. The receipt of these reports will allow the District Attorney’s Office to file a criminal complaint and allows the Sheriff’s Department to finally reveal Garcia’s identity as a suspect to the community.

Garcia is expected to make an initial appearance in court on Thursday, 10-11-12 at 1:00, however, that date and time has not yet been officially calendared by the court.

Garcia was a known associate of Lisa Mezera. Garcia was the last person Mezera was seen with. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department appreciates the patience of Lisa Mezera’s family and the residents of Kenosha County during the investigation of this case.
