The Kenosha Lifecourse Initiative for Healthy Families is asking local elementary and middle school students, “What’s a healthy community to you?”

That is the theme of an essay contest that is now open to all Kenosha County students in grades 4 through 8.

Students may participate as part of a group through a school or organization, or on their own. Winners will receive prizes, and the top essays will be published in the Kenosha News.

The deadline to submit an essay is Friday, Oct. 12, 2018. There is no word-count requirement, though it is recommended that essays be no longer than one page.

“This contest, ‘What’s a healthy community to you,’ is to inspire students to work toward promoting health in their daily environment,” said Atifa Robinson, program coordinator for the Kenosha Lifecourse Initiative for Healthy Families. “Our hope is that students will be encouraged to build a brighter future in Kenosha County.”

Schools/organizations that plan to participate in the contest are asked to contact Robinson at 262-605-6769 or Atifa.Robinson@kenoshacounty.org.

Individuals may access the entry form online here. Completed forms may be submitted in person at the Kenosha County Division of Health office on the second floor of the Kenosha County Job Center, 8600 Sheridan Road, Kenosha, or by email to Atifa.Robinson@kenoshacounty.org.
