[ARCHIVED] Drug Take-Back Day, other collections yield 147 boxes, 2,157 pounds of medication

On Monday, April 29, 2019, Detectives from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department participated in the Wisconsin Department of Justice Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. As a result of this participation, 147 boxes of prescription medication with a total weight of 2,147 pounds were submitted for disposal.

The Detectives collected these boxes by meeting with representatives from the following agencies Kenosha Joint Services, Pleasant Prairie Police Department, University of Wisconsin Parkside Police Department, and the Twin Lakes Police Department. The boxes of prescription drugs were turned in as part of an ongoing collection process through permanent Drug Take Back locations. The sites provide a safe, convenient, and a responsible means of disposal of prescription medications.

The public is reminded that any unused prescription medication in homes creates a public health and safety concern. These prescription medications should be disposed of at any of the local Drug Take Back locations. More information is here.
