The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting event at 8:15 a.m. Monday, July 15, to commemorate the grand reopening of the newly remodeled Branch 1 Courtroom in the Kenosha County Courthouse, 912 56th St.

The Branch 1 Courtroom and judicial space has been under renovation since April and is now ready to be used by the Honorable David Bastianelli.

Improvements to the courtroom include technological upgrades, such as the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting and updated audio and video equipment. There are new desks for the judge, clerk, court reporter and attorneys. As a nod toward the 94-year history of the Courthouse building, the courtroom’s original chairs for the judge and jury remain in use.

The jury room was also rehabbed, new carpeting was installed and kitchenettes were replaced.

These were the first significant improvements to this courtroom area in more than 20 years.

Judge Bastianelli and County Executive Jim Kreuser will commemorate the reopening in a brief ceremony on Monday.
