[ARCHIVED] Laura Belsky appointed to fill 4th District County Board seat

Laura Belsky

Kenosha County Board Chairman Daniel Esposito tonight announced his appointment of Laura Belsky to fill the vacant 4th District seat on the County Board.

The board then immediately approved Belsky’s appointment on a voice vote with no opposition. She will be sworn into office at the Sept. 17 board meeting.

Belsky will succeed Supervisor Michael Goebel, who died on June 28. She will serve out the remainder of the current term and will be eligible to seek election in the 2020 spring nonpartisan election. The 4th District is located on the City of Kenosha’s far-north side.

A first-time holder of elective office, Belsky is a retired information technology executive with U.S. Bank who notes her record of strategic leadership, managing multi-million-dollar budgets and contracts, and implementing strategies to reduce costs while maintaining or improving services.

She volunteers her time with a number of local organizations, including Kenosha HarborMarket, Kenosha Art Walk and the Southport Park Association.

“Laura has demonstrated her commitment to the community through her involvement in numerous organizations, and her career resume speaks for itself,” Esposito said. “I am confident she will serve Kenosha County well. I look forward to working with her in the future to move Kenosha County forward.”

Belsky thanked Esposito for the appointment, and the County Board for its vote of confidence.

“I have lived in Kenosha all my life and have lived 20-plus years in the 4th District,” Belsky said. “This appointment is about representing my neighbors and the people of Kenosha County. I am so very proud to call Kenosha my home and I feel very strongly and passionately about making it a better place to live, work and play.”
