[ARCHIVED] County Board confirms appointment of new County Clerk Regi Bachochin

The Kenosha County Board on Tuesday night voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Regi Bachochin as county clerk.

This action will allow Bachochin to fill out the remainder of former County Clerk Mary T. Kubicki’s term, which ends in January 2021. Kubicki retired at the end of 2019.

“I’m grateful to the County Board for its support,” Bachochin said. “I’m looking forward to serving Kenosha County in this new role.”

Bachochin is not new to the clerk’s office, however. She began working as a deputy clerk in August 2004 and was appointed chief deputy in July 2019.

County Board Chairman Daniel Esposito said Bachochin’s vast experience in the office makes her perfectly suited to her new position.

“I think she will do a great job in succeeding our previous county clerk, now and in the future,” Esposito said. “Mary Kubicki left her with big shoes to fill, but I strongly believe Regi is up to the challenge."

The County Clerk’s Office serves as the official record keeper for county government activities and meetings, county financial administration and election administration. It is also the local outlet for several state functions, such as fish and game licenses and marriage licenses.

Bachochin – whose surname is pronounced “buh-CHOH-chin” – said her top priority for 2020 will be working with her staff and her municipal clerk counterparts to ensure that a busy year of elections goes smoothly in Kenosha County.

“I have a great staff that’s 100 percent behind me, and they’re fantastic with the public,” Bachochin said. “I am looking forward to a busy but rewarding year in the office.”

Bachochin, should she choose to do so, will be eligible to seek election to a full, four-year term in the fall 2020 election.
