[ARCHIVED] Woman killed in I-94 crash near Highway E

JAN. 29, 2020, UPDATE:

The deceased operator has been identified as 37-year-old Andrea M. Durian, a resident of Racine, Wisconsin.

JAN. 28, 2020, ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE:

On January 27th, 2020 at 6:17 PM the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles on the East frontage road of I-94 just south of Highway E in the Village of Somers. Initial reports indicate that this was a head-on collision. Both operators were the sole occupants of the vehicles.

Deputies reported that a Chevy Cobalt was traveling northbound on the East Frontage Road, crossed the center line and struck a Kia Rio that was traveling southbound. The operator of the Cobalt, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was transported to the hospital by Somers Fire Department and was later pronounced deceased. She is a 37-year-old woman from Racine. The operator of the Kia Rio, a 31-year-old man also from Racine, received treatment at the hospital for minor injuries and was later released. No intoxicants were detected on either operator. The operator of the Kia is cooperating with the investigation.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending proper notification. The investigation is still active.
