On May 28th, 2020 at 5:18 AM Kenosha County Deputies assisted with a stolen vehicle pursuit that started in the City of Kenosha near Sheridan Road and 89th Street. Pleasant Prairie Police located the vehicle, a black Honda Accord, at Springbrook Road and 39th Avenue. A KSD deputy joined the pursuit and chased the stolen vehicle south on 39th Avenue to 106th Street where a tire deflation device was used by Pleasant Prairie Police.

The vehicle swerved to avoid the tire deflation device and crashed into a tree at that location injuring the driver, a 16-year-old male from Zion, Illinois. The driver was ultimately transported to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. The front-seat passenger, a 19-year-old male from North Chicago Illinois, fled from the scene but was taken into custody by officers and deputies a short distance from the crash. The identities of the driver and passenger are being withheld at this time as this is still an active investigation. Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating and processing the accident scene.

After the suspect vehicle crashed and officers were approaching, a KSD deputy unintentionally discharged his firearm. No one was injured as a result of the discharge. An outside agency is investigating the incident.

Sheriff Beth would like to stress to the public that the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department will act accordingly to apprehend suspects that break the law. Our deputies are trained to act with the utmost care and safety for the public while pursuing a felony suspect.
