[ARCHIVED] WKRP Income Maintenance Consortium Takes Top Ranking in the State

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser announced that the Kenosha County Income Maintenance (IM) unit, in partnership with Racine County under the WKRP (Wisconsin Kenosha Racine Partnership) Consortium, achieved the number one ranking for the last two months in most performance categories.

“This was accomplished as the result of the hard work and dedication of our staff and our strong partnership with Racine County,” County Executive Jim Kreuser said.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) provides weekly reports of individual Consortium performance. In 2012 the State of Wisconsin directed that consortiums be created to administer Income Maintenance programs that include Foodshare, Badgercare, Medical Assistance and Caretaker Supplement. The WKRP Consortium administers IM programs for more than 46,000 households living in the Kenosha and Racine areas.

The State of Wisconsin tracks timeliness and service standards in 8 primary areas for all 11 of the State’s current IM Consortia. Timely processing of applications assures that applicants are getting the necessary benefits and services requested in an expeditious manner. The timeliness performance standards range between 7 and 30 days, depending upon the type of program requested. In the category of timely processing of applications, WKRP received a 99% rating.

As a result of the Affordable Care Act, many Badgercare Plus (BCP) applications were transferred from the Marketplace to the Consortia for processing starting in February 2014. Between February and March, WKRP received more than 6,000 new BCP applications from the Marketplace and attained 100% for the timely processing of these applications. These BCP applications were in addition to the normal flow of BCP applications that come into the Consortium on a daily basis.
