[ARCHIVED] Service enhancements provide dedicated hotlines for crisis, child protective services calls

Effective Oct. 1, 2022, Kenosha Human Development Services (KHDS) expanded services to the community with two separate programs:

  • The Crisis Program in the Crisis Prevention Center provides mental health services to individuals (children and adults) in Kenosha County.
  • The CPS Support Program provides after-hours Child Protective Services in Kenosha County.

These service enhancements are made as Kenosha County responds to Wisconsin’s 988 Suicide Lifeline and the expansion of mobile crisis services. This will provide a continuum of services through the Division of Aging and Disability & Behavioral Health Services.

Enhancements will continue to assure children’s safety by meeting the state requirements for receiving and responding to reports 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Adult Crisis and Juvenile Crisis have merged into Crisis, responsible for all emergency mental health calls involving children, adolescents, families and adults. A mental health crisis is any situation in which a person's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can lead to them hurting themselves or others, and/or put them at risk of being unable to care for themselves or function in the community in a safe, healthy manner.

Crisis provides walk-in, telephone, and mobile services to children/families and adults having a mental health emergency.  Walk-in services are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) at the Crisis Prevention Center, 1202 60th St. Crisis is available by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 262-657-7188.

The CPS Support Program is Kenosha County’s provider for after-hours Child Protective Services. To report child abuse and neglect in Kenosha County, call the Access line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 262-605-6582.
