[ARCHIVED] Shooting Incident Update

Shooting Graphic

Released 04-06-15 @ 1130 hrs:

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has named a suspect in the shooting incident that took place in the 22000 block of 121st Street in the Town of Salem on 03-30-2015.

The suspect has been identified as a 23 year old man named Justin K. Diedrich of McHenry, IL. Diedrich fled the area of the shooting in Kenosha County on the night of 03-30-2015 and located at a business in Lake County, IL approximately 8 miles from the shooting scene.

Diedrich had sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and torso and was questioned by Lake County Sheriff’s Police about his injuries. He denied involvement in the Kenosha County Shooting at that time.

Detectives from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department were able to share information which ultimately resulted in Diedrich’s arrest in Illinois. A Kenosha County arrest warrant has been issued for Diedrich with the charges of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide and Burglary to Dwelling.

Diedrich is still hospitalized under guard in Illinois and will be facing extradition to Wisconsin once he is released.

I want to continue to stress that we do believe this incident was targeted and isolated. There is no reason for the community to be fearful of random violent acts.

If anyone has any additional information regarding this case please call the Kenosha County Crime Stoppers at (262) 656-7333, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department
