[ARCHIVED] Clinic aimed at helping Veterans with wills and power of attorney

In an effort to assist area veterans and their eligible dependents, the Kenosha County Veterans Service Office is hosting a Wills and Power of Attorney Clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Job Center located at 8600 Sheridan Road (South 10 Classroom).

There will be volunteer attorneys on site to advise and provide free estate planning documents to qualified participants. These free documents will include last will and testament, financial power of attorney, power of attorney for health care and living will.

To qualify for this free program, an individual must meet the following conditions:

  • Be a veteran or the spouse/surviving spouse of a veteran (documentation will be required prior to the day of the clinic).
  • A family of one with an income of less than three times the federal poverty limits (approximately $3,000 a month).
  • Have less than $650,000 in total assets for a single person or less than $1.3 million in total assets for a married couple.

Participants must sign up and complete an estate planning questionnaire prior to the date of the clinic. In addition, married couples must sign up for two separate time slots for the day of the clinic. Each spouse should have their own time slot in order to work with separate attorneys.

To sign up for the clinic and receive the estate planning questionnaire, please contact Ali Nelson, Kenosha County Veterans Service officer, at 262-605-6690.
