[ARCHIVED] Cold Case Investigation Exhumation of Infant John Doe

DATES: August 1, 2016
EVENT: Cold Case Exhumation of Infant
LOCATION: St. John’s Cemetery 9900 336th Avenue
RELEASED BY: Sgt. Eric Klinkhammer (Public Information Officer)

News Release:

On November 09, 1989 a newborn male infant was found deceased by trappers beneath the Des Plaines River Bridge on CTH N in the Town of Paris. A thorough investigation was conducted at that time. An Autopsy determined the infant was born alive and the death was classified as a homicide. The infant was named Baby John Doe and was buried at the St. John’s Cemetery at 9900 336th Avenue in the Town of Randall.

As time passed the case was classified as a cold case and was periodically reviewed along with other cold cases in our detective bureau files. Approximately one year ago the case was reopened when new information became available. Detectives Paulsen and Istvanek were assigned and have been working the case since then. The detectives have developed a person of interest in the case.

In order to obtain DNA evidence, the Detectives have obtained approval to exhume the infant’s body from the cemetery. This exhumation will take place on Thursday August 4, 2016 at a time to be determined. Members of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau, the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office and representatives of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children will be present when the exhumation occurs.

If anyone has information about this case, contact Detective Paulson at 262-605-5140 or citizens can remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (800) 807-8477 or (262) 656-7333.

Further information will be made available as the investigation continues.
