[ARCHIVED] Heroin death related arrest

Elizabeth Cooper

On July 18, 2016 Kenosha County Sheriff Deputies and Detectives began an investigation into the death of Town of Salem resident Christopher Stachura. Stachura was found on that day deceased in his garage in the 11500 block of 277th Avenue. Evidence at the scene suggested heroin overdose.

During the investigation it was determined based on physical evidence on the scene and mobile phone records that Stachura received the heroin from 30 year old Village of Twin Lakes resident Elizabeth M. Cooper.

Cooper was interviewed and admitted to providing Stachura with heroin. When Cooper was arrested she was in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. She has been charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Heroin.

The Reckless Homicide charge is regarding state statute 940.02 (2)A which allows the charging of the suspect who delivers a controlled substance to a person and that person dies because of the use of that substance.

She is currently at the Kenosha County Jail being held on the above charges.
