[ARCHIVED] Highway E bridge work continues

Highway E bridge

Work is continuing on the replacement of the Kenosha County Highway E bridge over Pike Creek, just west of state Highway 31 in the village of Somers.

Highway E (12th Street) remains closed in both directions between highways 31 (Green Bay Road) and EA (72nd Avenue). Drivers are asked to use Highway A (Seventh Street) or Highway L (18th Street) as alternate routes.

The project began April 10. Completion is targeted for early August, said Joe Klarkowski, construction manager for Milwaukee-based DAAR Engineering, the project’s management consultant.

“It’s going well,” Klarkowski said. “All the concrete work on the bridge will be complete, including the railing, by the end of next week.”

Grading, roadway, storm sewer, curb-and-gutter, and landscaping work will follow, Klarkowski said.
