[ARCHIVED] Water main work to close portions of Highway L

Highway L sewer work

Sections of Kenosha County Trunk Highway L will be closed over the next few weeks, as the Village of Somers resumes water main work in the area.

The work affects Highway L (18th Street) between highways 31 (Green Bay Road) and H (88th Avenue).

The tentative closure schedule is:

  • March 2-7: Highway L closed between Highway EA (72nd Avenue) and Highway H to facilitate boring work under the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks.
  • March 7-9: Highway L closed between highways EA and H for culvert replacement work at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.
  • March 12-approximately March 21: Highway L closed between highways EA and H for completion of boring work under the Canadian Pacific tracks.

Note: These dates may change due to weather conditions and coordination with the Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific railroads.

Drivers are asked to detour around the affected area via highways 31, S and EA for the east closure, and highways EA, S and H for the west closure.
