Kenosha County invites the public to an open house at the newly remodeled Brookside Care Center and the new, adjoining Willowbrook Assisted Living facility.

The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19. The facility is located at 3506 Washington Road, Kenosha.

“This is an exciting time in the long history of Brookside Care Center,” County Executive Jim Kreuser said. “I encourage people to come out and see this impressive facility and the wonderful services it offers to Kenosha County residents.”

Completed in March, the Brookside renovation brought a new look and new amenities to a skilled-nursing facility that was built in 1995. This modernization includes a new therapy room and 48 sub-acute rehabilitation rooms, plus updated dining facilities and decentralized nursing stations. Brookside continues to offer a total of 154 beds in private rooms.

The Willowbrook addition to the Brookside complex, completed in 2017, is a community-based residential facility that includes 24 assisted-living beds. The new facility, which was a temporary home for Brookside residents while that building underwent renovations over the last year, will open to assisted-living residents this summer.

Kreuser noted that the facility expansions and renovations will be paid for from operating revenues, not the property tax levy.

Robert W. Pitts, longtime chairman of the Brookside Board of Trustees, said it gives him great pleasure to invite the public to see the upgraded facility.

“It is a great place to see,” Pitts said. “I’m so thrilled that we could provide a beautiful home like this for our residents. They deserve it.”

The open house will include refreshments, live music and tours. It will also coincide with Brookside’s Memories in the Making art show featuring works by the facility’s residents.

“We are so excited to unveil our beautiful new assisted-living community and rehabilitation center, in addition to our remodeled long-term care option,” said Brookside/Willowbrook Executive Director Frances Petrick. “I hope the community will take this opportunity to catch a glimpse of the compassionate care that we provide at Brookside.

Petrick now has oversight over Brookside and Willowbrook, while Lynda Bogdala, a longtime administrator at nursing homes and senior living facilities in the region, was brought on recently to succeed Petrick as Brookside administrator.

“I feel privileged and fortunate to be working in such a beautiful building, and a facility that has a reputation for providing such high-quality care to residents of Kenosha County,” Bogdala said.
