A locally produced documentary-style film that portrays how community members can act to help prevent child abuse and neglect will be shown to the public May 31 at Journey Church.

“The Blue Ribbon Anthology” is a fictional depiction of a struggling family and the resources and relationships that work together to avert a tragedy.

The film was written by Kathy Burns and produced by Karyn van Heijningen and Clara-lin Tappa in cooperation with Kenosha Community Media. It is a project of the Turn the Town Blue Committee, which was founded in 2009 to raise awareness and provide tools for building strong families.

According to Nancy Morey, director of the PSN Family Resource Center, “This film shows professionals and community members doing what they can in their daily lives to help keep kids safe and make families stronger.”

The May 31 presentation at Journey Church, 10700 75th St., will begin at 11:30 a.m.; doors open at 11. Admission is free. View the event flyer.
