John O'Day


John O’Day was first elected to the County Board in 1996, in the former 14th District. He has served continuously since then, representing the 9th District since the board map was redrawn in 2012. He was elected board vice chairman for the two-year term that began in April 2018, and chairman for the term that began in April 2020 and concluded in April 2022. He is a current member of the Public Works and Facilities Committee, the Planning, Development & Extension Education Committee, the Brookside Care Center Board of Trustees and the Board of Health. He is a past chairman of the Human Services Committee and the Finance Committee and a former member of the Land Use and Public Works and Facilities committees.

O’Day is the current president of the Kenosha History Center Board of Directors and a current and past volunteer for many local nonprofit activities. A semiretired Realtor, O’Day joined the Kenosha Realtors Association in 1984 and was a two-term president of that organization, and is a past state director for the Wisconsin Real Estate Association. He has been a Knights of Columbus Council 973 member since 1960, serving two terms as Grand Knight.

O’Day served in the U.S. Army from 1963-’66. He is married to his best friend, Sue Dyke O'Day, and has four adult children and three adult stepchildren.
