Kenosha County ADRC is now offering Memory Screen Mondays! Memory screens provide relief for individuals concerned about normal memory loss, lead to diagnosis of treatable conditions and offer the ability to make lifestyle changes early when they have the greatest potential for positive effect and the opportunity to participate in making future decisions. Screening results are not a diagnosis, and individuals who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam. Appointments available, Mondays, 8 a.m. - noon. Call the ADRC 262-605-6646.
Stepping On is a free, seven-week educational series, to help reduce falls in older adults. Wisconsin is ranked #1 in the nation for falls that lead to death among the elderly. More than 95% of hip fractures are caused by falling. We want to change those statistics with Stepping On! In Stepping On, you’ll learn how to build and maintain the physical strength and balance you need to walk confidently. From footwear to prescriptions, you'll learn what increases your risk of a fall, how to avoid it, and make an individualized action plan to stay on your feet and living life the way you want.
Join the Kenosha County ADRC's Dementia Care Specialist for a Memory Café, a place for persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or related dementia, and their care partners to socialize and have fun. Offered the second Tuesday of every month, 1-2 p.m. New members please call the Dementia Care Specialist with the ADRC at 262-605-6646 to register.
The Kenosha County Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) offers no-cost, unbiased workshops for those new to Medicare, or who want to learn more. Trained benefit specialists are available to answer questions and discuss the decisions you’ll need to make, including the basics of Medicare coverage, options for private health and drug coverage, and public benefits that can help with health care costs. Learn about these diminutive but beautiful plants--their identification, ecology, and uses--on a hike in Bristol Woods, led by PNC staff. Participants will meet at PNC before embarking on a ~1 mile hike with frequent stops over hilly, dirt trails. Ages 16 & up; "pay what you wish;" registration will close when spaces are filled. Start your Tuesday mornings off strong with an amazing view. 6 am Sunrise Pilates with Angie. $10 per person. Located on the Northeast grounds behind the Faulkner (the one with the mosaic artwork on it) building. The class will be 1 hour long. Weather permitting. Can't wait to see you all on your mats!

On Friday, May 31, 2024 Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman invites you to celebrate the start of the summer at Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park! The Veterans Appreciation Summer Picnic will start at 12:00 PM, with lunch courtesy of Mission BBQ. Entrance located off Highway F (Bassett Road), just west of Highway KD (352nd Avenue). There will be shuttles provided to additional parking areas. During the Picnic a ribbon cutting will be help to celebrate the new Army shelter built at the end of last summer.
