Recognize the warning signs of substance abuse.

Treatment Plan

Each person’s treatment plan is unique to him or her. However, it will follow this typical process:

Assessment to determine the level of treatment needed

Determine requirements for detox (flushing drugs from their system)

  • Program requirements (some require detox prior to treatment)
  • Insurance requirements (determine stipulations for services)

Decide on a detox option

  • Detox facility (insurance may not cover)
  • ER (may provide medications to make detox easier)
  • Self-detox (find assistance on the Internet by searching “self detox from xx,” indicating a specific drug)

Insurance Status

Whether you have medical insurance or not, you or your loved one can get treatment help. Here are some resources to help you navigate the insurance aspect of treatment:

  • Contact your insurance company for approved providers
  • Contact treatment provider for program information & insurance approval process

  • Contact treatment provider or free/low-cost programs for scholarship availability/self-pay financing
