Public Involvement Meeting for Highway C Trail (Phase 2) to be held Dec. 5

The planned multi-use trail and drainage improvement project along County Highway C between 128th Avenue and 136th Avenue in the Village of Bristol will be discussed at a public involvement meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Southport Baptist Church, 13266 Highway C (Wilmot Road), Kenosha, WI 53142.

The Kenosha County Division of Highways is proposing to construct an 8-foot-wide paved path to accommodate bicycles and pedestrians within the highway right of way.  This proposed path will include connections to the existing trails east and west of this project and is part of a multi-phase plan for a continuous path network between Wilmot and Pleasant Prairie.

Culvert pipes will be replaced, and a storm sewer system will also be added to improve drainage throughout the project limits.

Since most of the work will be contained to the areas between the existing roadway and the right of way, minimal inconvenience to the traveling public is anticipated; however, short-term closures of Highway C and 128th Avenue may be required to replace existing pipes.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025 with the project expected to be completed in one construction season.

The Dec. 5 meeting will begin with a short presentation at 4 p.m. followed by an open house with a variety of exhibits and maps available for review.

Representatives from Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc. and Kenosha County will be available to answer questions throughout the meeting. Attendees will have the option of making written or verbal comments during the gathering.

People who are unable to attend on Dec. 5 can contribute comments about the project by contacting Jeff Smith, P.E. at:
